The Weights and Measures (Testing and Stamping) Fees
(Amendment) Rules, 2007.
(Under sections 18, 22(d), 22(h) and 43(c) of the Weights and
Measures Act, Cap 103)
IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred on the Minister responsible for
trade by sections 18, 22(d), 22(h) and 43(c) of the Weights and Measures
Act, these Rules are made this 5th day of July, 2007.
1. Title.
These Rules may be cited as the Weights and Measures (Testing and
Stamping) Fees (Amendment) Rules, 2007.
2. Amendment of S. I. No. 16 of 2005.
The Weights and Measures (Testing and Stamping) Fees Rules, 2005 in
these Rules referred to as the principal Rules are amended in rule 3 by
inserting immediately after paragraph 8(b) the following—
“(c) where any seal of the inspector is found to be broken, the user of
the equipment on which the broken seal is found shall pay a
surcharge of one hundred thousand shillings per broken seal.”
3. Amendment of First Schedule to the principal Rules.
The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended as follows—
(a) In paragraph 3—

(i) by substituting for the words “For each measure
exceeding 500 litres, every 500 litres will be charged at
a rate of Uganda shillings 10000” the following—
“For each measure exceeding 500 litres but not
exceeding 20000 litres, every 500 litres or part of it
shall be charged at a rate of Uganda shillings 10000”;
(ii) by inserting at the end of paragraph 3 the following—
“For each measure exceeding 20000 litres, every
additional 500 litres or part of it shall be charged at a
rate of Uganda shillings 5000.”
(b) In paragraph 6—
(i) by substituting for the words “For each bulk flow-metre
type” the following—
“For each bulk-flow meter type with a flow rate of less
than or equal to 100 litres per minute, the fee charged
will be Uganda shillings 250000.
For each bulk- flow meter type with a flow rate exceeding
100 litres per minute but not exceeding 500 litres per
minute, the fee charged will be Uganda shillings 500000.
For each bulk flow-meter type with a flow rate
exceeding 500 litres per minute, the fee charged shall
be Uganda Shillings 800000.”
(c) by inserting immediately after paragraph 8 the following—
“9. Prepackage Testing
The fee payable for a sample not exceeding 50 prepackages
shall be Uganda shillings 50000 and thereafter a fee of
Uganda shillings1000 shall be paid for every additional
prepackage tested from that sample.”
