STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS

2005 No. 38. The Animal Diseases (Quarantine) (Amendment) Rules, 2005.

(Under sections 20 and 21(l) of the Animal Diseases Act, Cap. 38)

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Minister by sections 20 and 21(l) of the Animal Diseases Act, Cap. 38, these Rules are made this 13th day of May, 2005.

  1. Title

These Rules may be cited as the Animal Diseases (Quarantine) (Amendment) Rules, 2005, and shall be read as one with the Animal Diseases (Quarantine) Rules (S.I. 218-8, Vol. XIII of the laws of Uganda, 1964, page 3040).

  1. Replacement of rule 2.

For rule 2 of the Animal Diseases (Quarantine) Rules, there is substituted the following rule—

"2. (1) An inspection fee of 0.05 currency points shall be paid in respect of every animal or carcass or part of any animal or carcass kept or detained in quarantine; except that the Minister may remit fee wholly or in part.

(2) For the purpose of this rule—

  1. ‘quarantine’ means a place notified as such by the Minister by

statutory instrument;

  1. ‘currency point’ has a value of twenty thousand Uganda

shillings."
