THE ELECTORAL COMMISSION (APPOINTMENT OF DATE OF COMPLETION OF UPDATE OF VOTERS’ REGISTER IN THE NEWLY CREATED SUB-COUNTIES/TOWN COUNCILS) INSTRUMENT, 2003.

The Electoral Commission (Appointment of Date of Completion of Update of Voters’ Register in the Newly Created Sub-counties/Town Councils) Instrument, 2003.

(Under section 19 (7) and (8)(a) of the Electoral Commission Act 1997, (as amended) Act

No. 3 of 1997.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Commission by section 19 (7) and (8)(a)of the Electoral Commission Act, 1997 (as amended), this Instrument is made this 21st day of October, 2003.

1.           Citation

This Instrument may be cited as the Electoral Commission (Appointment of Date of Completion of Update of Voters’ Register in the newly created Sub­counties/Town councils) Instrument, 2003.

2.           Appointment of date of completion

The 23rd October, 2003 is hereby appointed as the date upon which the Commission shall complete the exercise of updating the Voters’ Register for purposes of the Local Government council elections in;

Sub-county/Town Council District


(a)          Butanda

(b)          Kinyogoga

Kabale;

Luweero;

Mbarara;

Mbarara;

(c)          Mb are

(d)          Biharwe

(e)          Wakiso T.C.

(f)            Wobulenzi T.C.

Wakiso; and Luweero.


3.          No applications accepted after appointed date

For purposes of paragraph 2 of this Instrument, after the appointed date, no application form in the specified areas shall be accepted by the Electoral Commission, seeking—

(a)                              to register as a voter; or

(b)                              to transfer to a new voting location.
