STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2001 No. 9.

The Prisons (Earning Rates and Gratuity) Rules, 2001.

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Minister by paragraph (h) of section 76 of the Prisons Act, these Rules are made this 21st day of November, 2000.

  1. Citation

These Rules may be cited as the Prisons (Earning Rates and Gratuity) Rules, 2001.

  1. Rating of earning

The rates or earning specified in the second column of the schedule to these Rules, shall be payable to grades of prisoners correspondingly specified in the first column of Schedule.

  1. Rate of gratuity.

A prisoner in the earning scheme shall be paid gratuity at the rate of three thousand shillings for the first month served and thereafter one thousand shillings per month or a part of it.

  1. Revocation of S.I. No. 45 of 1983.

The Prisons (Earning Rates and Gratuity) Rules, 1983 is revoked.
