THE PHOSPHOROUS MATCHES ACT.

An Act to prohibit the manufacture, importation and sale of white

phosphorous matches.

1. Prohibition of white phosphorous in matches.

The manufacture, importation and sale of matches which contain white (yellow) phosphorous is prohibited.

2. Offences and penalties.

Any person manufacturing, importing or selling matches which contain white (yellow) phosphorous commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding two thousand shillings or, in default of payment, to imprisonment for a period not exceeding six months, and any such matches or materials intended to be used in the manufacture of the matches is liable to be forfeited.
