CHAPTER 359

THE SPECIFIED GOODS (CONVEYANCE) ACT.

Commencement: 30 July, 1964.

An Act to provide for the control of the means of conveyance of certain goods to and from the Republics of the Sudan, the Congo and

Rwanda.

1. Carriage of certain goods.

Notwithstanding any other written law, any person or the agent of any person who imports or exports any goods specified in the Schedule to this Act shall do so as prescribed by regulations made by the Minister under this Act.

The Minister may, by statutory instrument, declare that subsection (1) and regulations made under this Act shall cease to have effect in respect of any route prescribed under those regulations for any such period as may be stated in the regulations.

An instrument made under subsection (2) may contain such other directions or conditions as the Minister may deem fit.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is declared that any goods mentioned in the Schedule to this Act shall be deemed to be restricted goods.

The Minister may, by statutory order, amend the Schedule to this Act.

2. Regulations.

The Minister may, by statutory instrument, make regulations prescribing—

(a) the routes on which any goods specified in the Schedule to this
Act may be conveyed in or out of Uganda;
(b) the method of payment of railway charges under this Act,
and generally giving full effect to the provisions and purposes of this Act.
